Quite a few years ago, I toyed with the idea of creating a food and travel blog highlighting my family’s wonderful trips that always surrounded our hunt for great food, however the timing wasn’t just right. It’s all about timing, right? I was a stay-at-home mom of 3 – one biological son and 2 foster-to-adopt special needs daughters. My husband was on the road more often than not, so I didn’t have a free moment to sit down and focus on a blog. Life was crazy! Surviving the day with my sanity intact while keeping my children alive and entertained was my main priority. Oh yeah – I was also trying to be a great wife while taking care of my own self as well!
Sadly, we lost our girls in the end to their paternal biological family after 2.5 years of loving them as our own. We were crushed! This is a story for another time, however… Needless to say, the timing for my food and travel blog was not good! We heeded great advice from our friends who lost their son to cancer when he was 7 and focused on healing our gaping wounds. Somehow, we survived our massive loss! I’m still amazed to this day!
Slowly, we learned to lean on our faith and our loving network of people who kept us afloat despite not understanding a single thing we were going through. How could they? We didn’t even understand! Eventually, we came through the other side of grief and began creating new memories full of great food and travel. I shared all of these amazing discoveries on Facebook, but I wanted to reach more than just my family and friends. I wanted to reach anyone who shared these same passions!
Now knowing that my family has survived the trauma, I realized just this week that NOW is the time to start my food and travel blog! I have never had a blog before and have no idea where this will take me, but I am super excited to be on this ride! Today marks my launch of Food Lover USA!
As I travel, you will find vibrant pictures of wonderful food and locations throughout the USA. You will see that I mainly post about my discoveries in Wisconsin and Florida as we have homes in both states. I truly hope you enjoy this blog and please feel free to kindly reach out to me! Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to post my honest opinions and for joining me on this amazing journey!
